Our clients for this project had travelled extensively and had fallen in love with classical European gardens. They were looking for a garden with lots of plants, pots, and open space for sunning and entertaining, with an entry that was something special for welcoming guests. The design solution w as strongly symmetrical with gates, feature pots, and a lion’s head fountain placed along visual and physical axes. Edged by thin cedar strips, formal parterre beds contain extensive planting. A warm-toned bird’s-eye grabel was used for the pathways and open areas. The entry to the garden is highlighted by new granite columns, matching the existing chimney of the home, and a custom wrought iron gate inspired by a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass design.
