Our clients, an architect of national stature and an avid gardener, asked us to help them realize their vision. The Modernist design concept called for changes in levels, space for entertaining and for solitude, a zinc waterfall focal point, steel post and cable fencing, and hard surfaces combining concrete, stone and river rock. The plantings were chosen for their colour, texture, form and scent. The predominantly silvers, greys and whites of the garden reflect the colours of the house, the hardscaping, the furnishings and the nearby sea, helping to create a sense of calm and a brief respite from hectic city life.
